The pair's Cannes nuptials were prematurely called over the weekend after Lavigne's rep Mike Heller, CEO of Talent Resources, tweeted Saturday: "I'm in south of France about to see my little Rok star #avril get married I am so happy to be part of this special celebration."
The couple has been hosting friends and family all weekend, kicking off a three-day (technically, four-day) "black-tie fairytale" celebration with a dinner and party Saturday night, which inspired the Heller tweet that launched the confusion.
"Chad and Avril had a very romantic wedding that went all night," sources tell omg!. And "all night" isn't an understatement...
Insiders tell omg! that dinner wasn't even served until 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning and the cake wasn't cut until 3:30 a.m.!
"The party went on until 6 in the morning," continues omg!'s source.
On Monday, which was not so coincidentally Canada Day, the singer and Nickelback frontman finally exchanged vows in a ceremony Lavigne planned herself.
"I've been doing it, I'm the girl," she told Us Weekly in June. "I'm the one who has the crazy vision and he's letting me be me. It's a lot and I just want to make sure I really enjoy this amazing time."
